Our Story.

The unexpected passing of a loved one rocks your world in every way. Everything changes. Sudden Angels is here to help. We are a 503c nonprofit organization dedicated to helping families transition through the grieving process of sudden loss by providing information and resources to help navigate this new chapter of your life.

When my husband, my soulmate, my best friend, the love of my life unexpectedly passed, my heart was shattered, my life was blown apart, my world was forever changed, and I felt empty and alone – the pain was suffocating.

My husband was my rock, my support, my world, my partner in everything. We never planned for the possibility of either of us passing at our age. Like many people, we always thought we had more time – more time to plan for our future, we never got the chance.

I felt like I couldn’t even grieve fully because I now had the sole responsibility of providing for my family and making important life decisions - alone. I was fortunate for the generous outpouring of love and support from friends, family, and neighbors.

Several weeks after losing my husband, I found myself sitting out back on the patio, pondering life, and trying to cope with my profound grief. I wondered how many other families find themselves in a similar situation. Sometimes it really does take a storm to see the rainbow. Inspiration took hold and I decided to work through my grief by ‘paying it forward’ and helping others who experienced a sudden, unexpected loss. When a cardinal landed beside me that morning, it was a sure sign that my husband was in agreement with this new-found purpose.

Coping with profound grief while pondering life… Sudden Angels was born.
